Stance: Responsible for your Own Decisions
I do not think the government owes college graduates money for college or any sort of handout. To me more important than the handout is the fact that someone would take a handout. It totally baffles me why anyone would take anything from our government. If you take something from someone, they have control over you. I want the government in my life as little as possible. I do not even want to work for the government…even if they offered me a good salary.
If you choose to go to college, you are choosing to either get scholarships, grants, a 2nd or 3rd job to pay for school or give a piece of your check to pay back a loan every month, until paid in full, once you graduate. You do not have to go to college so you are not forced to be covered in debt. If you choose to take out a loan, you are responsible to pay it back.
That being said, I do not think you need to go to college to be successful. You can get the same knowledge from reading books, or even better, by finding a mentor.
Certain career paths do require a degree, so if you are pursuing one of them then yes you will need to find away to pay for school, but there are plenty of ways to be successful without a college degree.
